Meditation Benefits

So you think that meditation is a more efficient way to go to sleep than counting sheep? Or is there a better alternative to see replays on TV?

Well, for some, this may be true. However, for those who practice meditation with a strong conviction, the benefits of meditation is much more than to sleep quickly. Basically, meditation has been designed to help free his mind from the constant conflicts of life. He promises to give people a deeper sense of relaxation and a better control of themselves. The benefits of meditation even includes understanding of oneself as perceived as a process that will lead people to self-awareness.

Scientific studies have even found explanations to confirm some of the benefits of meditation. These studies show that meditation shifts activity in the brain of some of the stress and quieter areas of the brain. This mental exercise reduces the effects of stress, anxiety and depression. They also discovered that the brain deals with less fear because of changes in brain activity.

There are benefits of meditation, most people find very useful. The first is that it makes a person free from the bondage of past trauma that causes a feeling of having "unfinished business" and impede the current growth. With these you can also enjoy the simple pleasures, each moment brings.

The benefits of meditation efforts to end things that we do not, or feelings that we have not lived. Rather, they teach us to appreciate the present. Meditation is just an easy way to caution us back time and then let go.

Given the benefits of meditation, many people with psychological problems have found an ally in this practice in mind. It says it is able to get out of a depression. And it gives us a deeper understanding of us, meditation also encourages people to quit their addiction to vices, assisting in their healing and recovery, and to live better and healthier.

Some health experts have found that people who have been diagnosed to suffer from too much stress and anxiety extremes should not be treated with medication. The benefits of meditation was again demonstrated in the study of these people. They found that engaging in meditation is a good protection against panic attacks.

Many people have different things to say about meditation. Although there are many techniques of meditation, they should all receive the same treatment. They are not designed to solve our problems or make life carefree. They are here, so we become more accepting of life and its challenges.

Career Tips - Meditation Techniques While At Work

Meditation is one of the most effective ways in relieving stress and anxieties. If it is your first time to meditate, take some time and accept that you need to start somewhere. Your house, a secluded place dedicated for meditation, and your bathroom are not just the only places where you can have some meditation exercises. You could also meditate right at your very desk. Check out some of the several meditation techniques that you could do while you are at work.

Relaxed State

You need to reach a very relaxed state before starting meditation. When you are not relaxed your whole meditation process could not be successful.

Close Your Eyes

After you reached the relaxed state, you then need to close your eyes. Closing your eyes aids mental focus in meditation. When your eyes are open, persons or things could distract and disturb your meditation.

Slow Breathing

Be aware of each breath that you take. Make sure to take a long, slow deep breath in and then exhale slowly. You could also count every breath for a few seconds. When you consciously breathe you will be amazed how soon you become relaxed.

Focus On One Thing

While you are at your working chair beside your desk, eyes closed and breathing slowly, you then try to focus only on one thing. It could be the noises that your co-workers make, the sounds of the music playing on your computer, or the laughter from your boss' office. It is perfectly normal if your focus drift but when you become aware of the drift, immediately try to bring the focus back.

No-worry

When meditating, try not to worry about your deadlines, problems, health issues, and other troubles that stress you out. You could even try not to think at all. This technique is similar to petit mal seizure where your mind goes blank but only for a short period of time. You will be surprised how you will feel light after just a few minutes of thinking about nothing.

Be happy and stay stress-free by exercising some meditation techniques while you are at work. Do these techniques ten minutes a day may it be during your lunch break or coffee break and see some results.

Easy Guided Meditation Techniques

Guided meditation involves the use of another person to guide you through the process of preparing to meditate and will teach you how to engage in meditation. This is a very helpful way to start if you are new to meditating.

The guidance you receive will teach you what you need to know to be able to meditate on your own after a few sessions. You don't have to have an actual person in the room with you to do this type of meditation with the numerous free resources available online in the form of free downloads and CD's. There are also sites to which you can subscribe and there are others where you can purchase the CD's containing guided meditations.

The main thing that you will learn from guided meditation techniques is that you should allot ten to thirty minutes a day for yourself. You can choose to have one session or several short ones – whatever works best for you. For each session, you do need to have a quiet area just for you. This could be a room in your home or a corner of your desk where you can be alone. It does have to be a place where you feel peaceful and can relax.

The first step in guided meditation is to prepare your body. To do this you must relax. One guided meditation technique that is easy to learn for this purpose is that of Sweet Breath. This is called Yogic Breathing in which you pull in the life force when you inhale and get rid of the negative energy when you exhale. You should repeat this exercise ten times to feel completely relaxed.

Place the thumb of your left hand over your left nostril, with the two fingers next to your thumb curled into the palm of your hand. Place your ring finger on your right nostril. Close your left nostril with your thumb and inhale through your right nostril. Now close your right nostril with your ring finger and exhale through your left nostril. Inhale through the left nostril and exhale through the right.

When the left nostril is clear, this tells you that the energy is flowing well through the right side of your brain. This part of the brain is associated with creativity. When the right nostril is clear, the left side of your brain, associated with logical thinking, has positive energy flowing through it.

Breathing is the main technique in relaxing your body in guided meditation techniques. The guidance you receive from the download, CD, or whatever source you choose will help you use mantras, vibrations, and other mediums for meditation. You will develop a repertoire of techniques that you can use in different situations to make you more able to meditate for longer periods of time and to gain more out of session.

Even the posture you choose is a guided meditation technique that you can use to your advantage. If you tend to fall asleep easily when meditating, then you should learn a position that will help you stay awake. While the lotus position is uncomfortable and takes practice to master, it will help you achieve the goal of remaining awake. Your clothing must be loose and comfortable and choosing a point of focus can really help you achieve the degree of concentration you want.

Meditation techniques that will teach you how to meditate correctly

Meditation is a state of being focused on a certain thought and involves the "quieting of the mind" as you concentrate inwardly, resulting to some more relaxed and calm feeling. This relaxation technique can help a person develop his personality through mental discipline as well as encourage his spiritual well-being by communing with God.

Usually associated with some ancient eastern religions dating back several centuries, meditation has been assimilited in western culture via spiritual practices and medical therapies which focus on different kinds of healing by using the mind and inner energy.

According to Dr. Borysenko, author of 'Minding the Body, Mending the Mind', "...through meditation, we learn to access the relaxation response (the physiological response elicited by meditation) and we become more aware of the mind and exactly how our attitude produces stress." He believes that through meditation, one can also make contact with the "inner physician" and allow the body's own inner wisdom to be heard.

In Taoism, the mind of emotions is controlled by the "Fire" energy of the heart. Unrestrained, this Fire energy flares upward and wastefully burns up the energy and smothers the mind. On the other hand, the mind of intent, or will power, is governed by the Water energy of the kidneys. Without direction, the "Water" energy is flushed down the sexual organs which drains its essence and spirit. However, when you are meditating, these flows of Water and Fire energies are reversed. The Water energy is drawn up to the head through the Central and Governing channels, while the Fire energy from the heart is drawn down into the Lower Elixir Field in the abdomen, where the energy is refined and transformed. This process allows the mind of intent, which is Water, to provide a soothing and relaxing effect over the mind of emotion, which is Fire. Hence, meditation relaxation occurs.

In today's world, where there is so much chaos and negativism caused by man's pursuit of wealth and power, many have fallen victim to panic and anxiety, as well as a number of medical conditions such as cardiovascular and respiratory diseases.

Meditation relaxation involves the body and mind. It is beneficial in providing relief to those suffering with anxiety disorders as it allows the person to experience relaxation and release negative energies stored in the body, allowing it to acquire a different form of healing that isn't afforded by medications. But this method is a skill which needs to be learned properly. Training in the skill of meditation relaxation is necessary to avoid getting distractions when you learn how to meditate..

In Yoga Meditation, the key principles in this process are attention and breathing. These two work together naturally in allowing the relaxation of the physical body, along with the mind.

There are times when the mind is restless that could not keep itself from getting distracted and have the tendency to open the eyes or make unnecessary movements during the process. What some practitioners do is to utilize external device or stimulus like music or visual support to get to that state of relaxation. However, to train the mind means not relying on this external technique but directly working in the mind itself.

So that you can train the restless mind, one must first acknowledge it as restless and that it won't easily come through. Give the mind something to do, something internal and real, not external or a fantasy. Focus on what is within the body and do not create something that isn't there. That's the good thing about Yoga meditation. So, whether the goal is to combat stress, cure illness or to gain higher spiritual experience, Yoga meditation along with other relaxation therapies will help you find healing by training your mind to reach into your inner being.
